Day 16 - Hesperia - San Onofre State Beach

Our first stop of the day was the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. I had planned on hiking to the view of the Hollywood sign, but ended up driving to near the top and enjoying the views. We began to hike to higher grounds off a trail near the Observatory, however I found a tick on Luna when I had stopped to take photos and disheartened and disgusted, left. The paths we were on were very wide concrete or dirt paths, I was certainly not expecting these little jerks to get at us there. I am very glad I did leave when I did as rush hour in Los Angeles already seemed to be starting at 2:30!

The temperature reached 25 degrees celsius as we drove, we were both roasting. We arrived at a campsite around 4:00 pm, got our spot, then immediately located the beach access trail and headed to the ocean. It was a lovely long walk to the beach with rabbits and songbirds all around. We spent only a short while enjoying the gorgeous view of the setting sun over the ocean before heading back so that we could make our way in daylight. When we got to the campsite I immediately put the camp stove on, fed and watered Luna and attended to other preparations while my dinner heated up, the whole set up has become much more efficient over the past couple weeks.

I asked someone to take a photo of Luna and I there, however, Luna absolutely hates being picked up next to any cliff or large drop, so here she is, terrified.

The view to the other side, quite lovely.

Luna made it to Hollywood! ;) That darn tick made it in to this photo.

Here the tick is cropped from a different photo. It was a tiny one and thankfully wasn't latched on when I got it off.
