Day 12 – San Luis Obispo – Malibu Creek State Park

Today was very uneventful. I woke up to a rainy morning and spent until checkout time at noon catching up online and planning for how best to route my next several stops. We stopped in at a few beaches and little walks off the highway, but the beaches were not dog friendly and it was so windy that we didn’t spend long any one place. The strong wind blew the green-grey ocean waves in to turmoil, creating quite a beautiful sight and many people had stopped to photograph it (excluding me oddly enough, but it was so windy my little dog model might blow away if I asked her to stand in front of the ocean and what is the point in a photo without Luna in it?!). The highlight of my day was being able to fill my full tank without having to go inside and guess at a certain dollar amount simply because I don’t have a zip code plus finding my first ATM that actually worked with my card at the same stop, I was jubilant! After asking at the visitors’ center, they were able to point me to this state park that allows dogs (although only in the campsite, stupidly enough). I let Luna take me for a couple laps around the campsites stopping to sniff and listen near the holes some rodent created while I watched the sun set over the mountains.

A tiny palm tree in Santa Barbara.
