Day 1 - Calgary, Alberta to Great Falls, Montana
The first day of our road trip went incredibly smoothly. As we left Calgary we drove past an RCMP officer and his very fuzzy horse, it was a lovely send off from Canada! After several hours we stopped and stretched our legs at an interesting old farm house just off the road, Luna had great fun doing many zoomies in the snow. After lunch, we headed off again and came across a beautiful train bridge in Lethbridge. With anxiety mounting (for no reason other than the constant feeling of having done something wrong that follows me around everywhere, no matter what I do!), we arrived at the border. Our time with the border guard lasted about one minute, he looked at my passport for a few seconds, asked me my occupation, if I had alcohol with me (only my camp stove fuel), where I was going, how long I'd be there and wished me a good day. I was so thrown off guard that I was left wondering if I'd missed something, I was expecting a full on interrogation! Perhaps I look as innocent as I am. We were then introduced to the wonderful 80 mile/hour speed limit of I-15 and the rest of the day zoomed past. I decided to stop in Great Falls, Montana and found the Motel 6 with no trouble. Luna adjusted to all the noises of a cheap motel with many quiet woofs and growls and she was sure to try out both of the beds.
